Team: Thunderbolts Powers: She is a shapeshifter with the ability to psionically shift the formation of her biological cells at will to change her appearance and thereby assume the form of other humans, as well as seemingly inanimate objects to a degree. As a side effect of this power, her natural aging process has been suppressed. She can also alter her voice to duplicate exactly that of another person. Sexuality: Bi Hometown: ? PERSONALITY Synopsis: Positive Traits: Determined and self-confident, she has years of experience in the field. A problem-solver and very responsible, she'll work hard at whatever task she is giving and do whatever she can to complete it. Adaptable to most situations and and self-motivated, she is charismatic for team efforts and uses her sharp tactical mind to help those she's working with at the time. Calm and composed with a sense of grace. She often seems unflappable, even in the face of extreme peril or awkward situations. She is also protective of children and young people she has come to especially like. Negative Traits: Having lived a long time, she has a bleak view toward humanity as a whole. Tends to have gray areas with morality, and a viciousness in her that she sometimes cannot suppress. Cold and calculating, with few qualms about sacrificing a few for the many. Appreciates the power that wealth and status can grant a person, and has used these sorts of people to her advantage in the past. Can come across as arrogant and ego-centric. Is also self-indulgent. Likes: Fine wine, silks and velvets, bold dark colors, the smell of scented oils, and attending the theater. Dislikes: Fast food, cheap cologne and perfume, heavy metal music, and having privacy interrupted. Talents (Skills): A cunning strategist in terrorist and commando operations, and adept at martial arts and information technology. She has a talent for finding, stealing and understanding cutting edge weaponry. She is a talented actress. She has some natural resistance to telepathic intrusion and sometimes wears devices to prevent her mind from being read by telepathy (depending on the situation). Practical Flaws (Lack of Skills): Not exactly a homemaker, domestic skills are not at what she excels, and those are often left to others. Not dexterous with craft-like things outside of work. Not always up-to-date with the latest youth infatuation. Can be tempted via own self-interests to get into trouble. Can be somewhat easy to prank, due to inattentiveness to things not of high importance or physical threat. Has a weak stomach to overly spicy food. HISTORY Family History: Unknown Personal History: Raven Darkholme's past before her mutation is murky...and there are many details she herself has forgotten. But ever since discovering her ability to reorganize her cells into any form she wishes, she has capitalized on the benefits. Leaving a trail of rich husbands, scandalous love affairs, and powerful lovers Mystique has enjoyed the finer quality of life just by wearing another's face. But her true appearance has always been the cause of strife (as well as her sometimes fickle nature and desires). Called a "demon", "freak", and "monster" she has been the victim of mobs and extremist groups who feared someone as otherworldly looking as she. These ugly feelings and fears eventually even cost her the chance to raise her own son, later named Kurt Wagner, when they were ostracized from their home and she abandoned him to flee. A fact that still remains a regret within her. She has spent her life traveling without ever really settling for long, finding dissatisfaction eventually no matter the setting. Eventually she became more engrossed with political and military movements, and began becoming more interested in mutant rights upon discovery of others like her. Training in martial and tactical arts, she has always had a penchant for new creations and technology. Especially if it can help her gain something she desires. She enjoyed the adrenaline rushes that came from the completion of risky missions and pushing herself to her limits. She came to do such things more and more, becoming notable in the underground and taking up the name "Mystique". She attracted the attention of several groups and began taking on jobs and activities as the whim took her. In her wanderings she encountered many mutants and influential people in one guise or another, including a man called Magneto during her time in East Berlin. The two developed a bond, and even after their parting would run into each other now and again. His work with mutants and his fight against anti-mutant extremists not only intrigued and impressed her, but gave her something to focus her drive and talents for. A "goal for the gun" as it were, and helped to expel the boredom and loneliness of longevity. It was through these missions and through all of her encounters that Mystique found herself looking down on humanity as greedy, ignorant, and intolerant. None of which sat well with her. And through shows of violence and propaganda, she saw firsthand how those who were "different" were shoved into the gutter like insignificant. She swore she'd do whatever she could to stop such things in the future, and never again would it be allowed to take away the things she cared about. Humanity would still never accept her, so why should she always accept it? It's a thought that nags her in the back of her mind. It was during one of these spells of wistful feelings that she encountered a young girl at the Canadian border, while trekking across the backwoods of Ontario. The girl was reclusive, frightened, and a mutant. Mystique's heart went out to her. Taking the girl under her wing for reasons Mystique wasn't even sure of herself, the two of them traveled together for two years. They grew close. Rogue found in Mystique someone who accepted what she was and a mother-figure, and Mystique found Rouge to be a kind spit-fire girl who reminded her of days long gone. Both found companionship. As such, Raven has become overprotective of her new "daughter". Rogue traveled with Mystique for quite some time before an 'incident' occured during an attack. She encouraged Rogue to drain one Carol Danvers completely of her powers...and after that Rogue fled. She has not seen the girl since then, but has been keeping tabs on her. Working for Magneto a few times in the past, she encountered Charles Xavier. A pacifist when it suits him and a bleeding heart, one who utterly disgusts her. Magneto contacted her recently requesting her aide with a new project of his...and under his direction she has put in transfer papers to teach at the school. A different setting and certainly in a different capacity from what she was used to. But one that holds not just one, but both of her children. In her research she has found Kurt at the institute, now called "Nightcrawler", but has not yet approached him. What will happen once the three of them meet is difficult to say. Mystique receieved a special device surgically placed within her skull from Magneto, in order to keep all telepaths (especially Charles) firmly out of her head. She is now deep under cover, keeping Magneto updated from afar. To everyones eyes at the campus, she is merely a talented and high intelligent teacher. One who's sometimes lax on the rules.
